Who I Am
Oregon State License #20040
Born and raised in the Midwest, I graduated from the University of Iowa in 2005 with a B.A. in journalism and German. In 2006 I moved west, eventually to Portland, where I was introduced to alternative healing modalities. My sister was attending massage school and it was at this time that I received my first massage and instantly recognized how powerful of a tool it is for pure relaxation and healing.
In 2011 I moved to Ashland, Oregon where I attended the Ashland Institute of Massage, graduating in 2013. My school placed a great emphasis on both the physical as well as the emotional components of massage and the importance of building a session and treatment plan around a client’s needs and boundaries.
In 2013 I returned to Portland where I began my journey as a massage therapist. I began treating clients at a spa and then moved on to collaborating with chiropractors and acupuncturists in wellness studios. I specialize in neck and shoulder, low back, and gluteal work. I have experience with myofascial release, PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), and deep tissue. I work slowly with intention and incorporate light stretching and emotional ease into my sessions. I have experience assisting clients in healing from auto and work accidents, strains from repetitive use, and postural imbalances.
Currently I am studying trigger point therapy and am excited to offer the modality to my clients. In my free time, I volunteer as a writer for the Concordia News Association newspaper. My hobbies include jigsaw puzzles, birding, gluten-free cooking, gardening, dancing to live music, and being in nature.
